This tiny 29 square meter apartment gives the illusion of a much larger space. Thanks to the design genius of BlackStones, this poky Parisian apartment has been transformed into a delightful abode. Innovative solutions have been used to divide and connect the various rooms, ensuring that a sense of flow is established.

An open plan layout is a logical decision when dealing with such minimal square meterage: it ensures that no space is unnecessarily taken up by diving walls and hallways. However, with a freely flowing plan comes the desire for the opposite: separation. The designers have masterfully choreographed these two distinct qualities. Let's take a look…

Bedroom and living

One of the defining aspects of this design is the stack-sliding door that separates and connects the living and dining spaces. By providing the means to open the bedroom to the living room, the design ensures that the already small space is not truncated.

But that doesn't mean the bedroom has to remain open to, and undifferentiated from, the social spaces of the home. Quite the contrary: the patterned doors can be slid across to completely close the bedroom off and ensure a good nights sleep.

Living room

The bedroom and kitchen are mediated by the, more neutral, living space in the middle. A large striped floor rug is placed over the natural timber floor for warmth and comfort underfoot. Colour, pattern, and texture is no stranger in the small abode. While the designers have been careful not to overdo it, they incorporate both accents and subtle textures to give the spaces a distinct personality.

The kitchen

The kitchen opts for a minimal design with subtle and uncomplicated white cabinetry. A tall leaning bar stands in the middle of the space, offering a work surface and place to gather. While, a lower blue table is fixed to the wall, forming a very small dining space.

The bathroom

The bathroom goes all out on the material front. The floor-to-ceiling stone tiles in the shower have a warm colour and detailed texture which is complimented by the timber vanity. Clean lines abound and sleek contemporary fixtures have been selected. There's not much to fault in this small bathroom – careful attention to detail shows it was no mere afterthought!

One last look

Before we say au revoir to this delightful little home is Paris, let's take one final look through the main volume. All and all, the designers have done a fantastic job with the small space they had at their disposal.
