Regardless of size, your kitchen needs to be able to serve up enough functionality, but if you could garnish the whole room with a little style as well, wouldn't that be perfect? Well, we've found six projects that have perfected this balance and we think they all hold the secret to small space style! We couldn't just find one that seemed to offer great storage, pretty aesthetics and good light, as that might not have appealed to your personal style, so come with us now as we show you a wide-ranging selection of designs, each curated by a wonderfully talented kitchen planner. We just know there will be a perfect scheme for you here!

1. Dazzling in white.

Let's start with the most anticipated small home kitchen style; all white! Gloss white cabinets look fresh, modern and chic, while also reflecting every nuance of light that creeps in, to give the impression of a far larger and airier space. With a white kitchen, you can build cabinets up to the ceiling and they'll simply blend in and not look too overbearing as well!

2. Warm with wood.

White is nice, but wood is good! If you prefer your kitchen to look and feel a little more cosy and inviting, you should definitely consider natural wood shelving and cabinets. A paler variety of wood will work well to maintain a sense of space, but even richer, darker woods will still look great, as the opulence will naturally overshadow the bijou proportions.

3. Flooded with natural light.

If at all possible, we highly recommend that you make natural light the star of the show in your small kitchen. With a huge amount of sunlight flowing in, you can, basically, choose any wall finishes or cabinet colours that you like, but perhaps we could tempt you to opt for timeless white, as it works so well with natural illumination.

4. Fresh, thanks to flowers.

Half the battle, with a small kitchen, is maintaining a sense of freshness and there is a great way that you can do this, without using artificial scents; by installing plants. You might think that plants in the kitchen sounds a little whacky, but it works so well and, if you choose the right varieties, you can even regulate moisture with them as well! Clever!

5. With bespoke storage.

Small kitchens necessitate a more creative and clever approach to storage and we really enjoy seeing the custom solutions that people come up with. Here, we can see a suspended shelving unit, which also doubles up as a subtle room divide and it is inspired! It gives access to so much extra storage and looks beautifully industrial as well. What a combination!

6. All about statement tiles.

If you don't want a small kitchen to be a stumbling block to eye-catching and dramatic design, don't be afraid to experiment with some bold tile designs. We suggest keeping your cabinets more understated, to offset a daring colour scheme or design, but this is your space, so you should please yourself!
