1. Lose the loose objects

The newspaper, the TV remote, that novel you’re busy with… these and more are all part and parcel of everyday objects that you find in almost any home, yet they add to visual clutter.

Fortunately, there is a way around this in the form of stylish storage boxes, side tables, coffee tables, or any other smart furniture pieces that allow you to hide these and other objects that are necessary, yet need to be out of sight when not in use.

Removing these small, loose objects goes a long way in visually cleaning up a space!

6. Place a laundry basket in each bedroom

Ensuring that every bedroom has a laundry basket will cause less of a hassle in collecting dirty laundry throughout the house. No more socks on the living room sofa, and no more jackets over the dining room chairs.

Your laundry ritual will speed up considerably because of this, as you won’t be spending who knows how long seeking out laundry pieces in peculiar places.

1. Start with your living room.

If you have guests expected imminently and you're concerned about the state of your home, start with the lounge! That will usually be where you entertain and you can simply sweep the room, removing clutter and dirty dishes, to give the appearance of a more minimal and stylish living room. By default, guests will assume that the rest of the house looks just as neat and tidy too!

2. Clean as you go in the kitchen.

Your talented kitchen planner would be devastated if you simply let their creation get dirty and unhygienic out of laziness, especially when the solution to a permanently clean and presentable kitchen is to simply get in the habit of clearing as you go. As you make rubbish, pop it straight in the bin and give your counters a simple wipe down with a throw-away antibacterial wipe. It'll take seconds but save you hours of trying to scrape off dried spillages!

1. Vinyl wrap your fridge shelves to keep them clean

You can simply peel dirty wrap off and replace whenever you like!

2. Spray shower cleaner on your screen each time you finish bathing

It'll prevent water stains building up.

3. Make sure everyone is tuned into a 'tidy as you go' mindset

Yup, even the kids!

5. Microwave a bowl filled with water and lemon

To free up stubborn grime and leave your appliance smelling super fresh.

7. Tumble dryer sheets are great for cleaning blinds or shutters

They attract dust through static electricity.

9. Don't have time for a proper clean?

Light some scented candles that have a fresh and crisp aroma and they'll cut through any stale smells.

10. Wipe your bathroom taps and shower head with a vinegar soaked cloth

Do this once a week to prevent limescale build up.

16. Open all your windows whenever possible

Whenever the weather allows, open all your windows to freshen up your home, blow out the cobwebs and naturally remove dust.
