Are first impressions always right? Well, we certainly can't be the judge of that, but both the exterior and interior of your home can be! When guests, family members and friends arrive at your home, there's a lot for them to notice and consider regarding you as a person – it is a reflection of who you are and what your lifestyle is about.

We have several main components of homes listed below and depending on how you design, organise and handle these areas/objects, it can say a lot about who you are! Take a look…

Front door

Of course your front door reveals a lot about you! It's not only the entrance to your home but also the main portal to your lifestyle, tastes and styles. Are you someone that likes to flank your doorway with decorative items – large vases, flowers, and statues? Then you probably tend to be detail oriented and your guests can fully expect a wonderful series of surprises on the inside.

Here at homify we know how important first impressions are.  Check out our great windows and doors selection to start brainstorming something new.

Sock drawer

Sock drawers tend to hold a mix of socks, underpants and various other items like lingerie and tights. If you want to keep yourself organised, active and prepared for your day then keep your active or exercise socks in one drawer and your nicer socks or heavy-duty winter socks in a separate drawer.

By keeping even your socks organised, you're showing that you are an essentialist that considers the details of your life and all that influences it.

Under the bed

Perhaps the most mysterious place in any home (besides in between the sofa cushions) is underneath the bed.  It's becoming more and more common to use under the bed storage compartments and systems – however, some homeowners that tend to be a bit more tidy, neat and minimalist prefer a setting as seen here.

If you leave your bed clear underneath it shows that you want no surprises, no mysteries, and you probably want to clean underneath more than others!

The bed itself

Do you have a super comfy bed covered in plush pillows, soft throws and high-quality bedding? Or are you kind of a get out and go kind of person?  Those who prefer luxurious beds tend to lean more towards treating themselves than those who don't.

The bed pictured here gives off a vibe that says a little bit of both – it's a bit masculine in design yet the matching and plush accessories show the homeowner cares about their lifestyle and surroundings.

Wall art

Living Spaces, ERC ERC Living room

Ask any art historian and they'll tell you with pride and happiness all the eras and periods of art. What you might not realise is that your art preferences speak volumes about who you are and the image you wish to portray.

Modern, minimalist and Scandi style geomteric or typographic prints suggest a forward-thinking, trend-led person. Bolder, brighter contemporary art means an extroverted, uncompromising leader, whereas light pastels and abstracts suit a free-thinking soul. Reproductions of the classics of course mean someone elegant, refined, and appreciative of the finer things in life.

homify has an amazing selection of designers and art to choose from if you do a quick ’art’ search!

Wardrobe

Of course the items in your wardrobe say a lot about you! We are specifically referring to the organisation, storage and design of your wardrobe.  If you organise according to seasons or what you wear most – this is smart and shows that you at least spend time on keeping things in order.

Why not try to colour coordinate and change clothing out with seasons? Sweaters and winter blotting take up a lot more space, so packing them away during the warmer months is a great idea.
