Gstaad holiday apartment was a refurbishment and redecoration project in the middle of Swiss Alps.

Client’s brief was to create a family holiday home in soft, but elegant style, focusing mostly on natural materials, textures and fabrics. The apartment was not refurbished for many years, looking dull and dark. In order to bring more light into the kitchen, the wall between the dining room and the kitchen was removed, creating a new open-plan space. New wide wooden floor planks were fitted throughout the house. Existing wall and ceiling wood was sanded and re-oiled with a white stain to match the finish of the new floor. A lot of furniture and soft furnishing for this Project were custom designed for each room. Dining room benches, console and bedroom side tables were custom built by a Belgium company, specializing in reclaimed wood bespoke furniture. Dining table with a leather top along with dining chairs were imported from another Belgium manufacturer, who works with metal and reclaimed wood, giving it a bit of industrial chic. All new lighting fittings were delivered from Netherlands, when sofa, beds and armchair came from Italy. All soft furnishing, including wall coverings, furniture upholstery, curtains, bed linens, pillows and piping were designed and custom made for each room. Fabric was ordered from such suppliers and manufactures as Holland and Sherry, Teasel, Colefax and Fowler, Turnell and Gigon, Art of Loom, Dominique Kieffer, Sheila Coombes and Loro Piana. Bathroom design was kept quite clean and simple. Stone-effect tiles were fitted in the main two bathrooms, and textured wallpaper from Holland and Sherry was installed in the Cloakroom.
